How the Innovative Cleaning Works
Dry ice blasting utilizes the physical properties of CO₂ to enable an especially gentle and efficient cleaning. The cleaning process is based on three central effects:
1. Thermal Shock
The dry ice pellets have a temperature of about -79 °C. When they strike the surface, they create an extremely rapid temperature drop. This shock causes dirt particles or paint residues to become brittle and easier to detach from the surface.
2. Mechanical Impulse
The pellets impact at high speed (up to 300 m/s) on the contamination. This kinetic impact literally blasts away impurities without damaging the underlying surface.
3. Sublimation Effect
After impact, the dry ice transforms directly from a solid to a gaseous state (sublimation). This creates a micro-explosion effect that additionally lifts and removes the dirt particles. At the same time, no residues of water or blasting media remain, allowing for a clean, dry, and environmentally friendly cleaning.
