Engine Dry Ice Blasting: Thorough Cleaning Without Disassembly or Residue

Dry ice blasting is an exceptionally effective method for cleaning engines. The application is dry, free from chemicals, and allows for the removal of even the most stubborn dirt. Unlike conventional cleaning methods such as high-pressure or chemical cleaning, dry ice blasting operates completely dry. Dry ice pellets are blasted at high speed onto the surface to be cleaned. The extreme cold shock causes sediments to become brittle upon impact. Simultaneously, the mechanical impulse of the pellets ensures that the dirt is detached from the surface. The dry ice sublimates immediately after impact, transitioning directly from solid to gas state. The result is a clean, dry surface, free of residues.

How Engine Cleaning with Dry Ice Works

In engine dry ice blasting, cold dry ice pellets are accelerated with compressed air and directed at the surfaces to be cleaned. The cleaning effect is based on three factors:

1. Cold Shock

Dirt, oil, and resins become brittle and break up.

2. Impact Energy

The pellets mechanically detach the contaminants.

3. Sublimation

The dry ice sublimates upon impact, going directly into gas form — without moisture, without residue.

This cleaning process is particularly gentle on painted surfaces, seals, or electrical components. At the same time, it is intensive enough to remove even the most stubborn dirt, making it ideal for restoring classic cars or used vehicles.
